Printing Postcards is the classic way to promote you business. Mail them, hand them out, use Every Door Direct Mail, or use them as envelope stuffers. Mailing postcards has never been easier whether you are mailing to your own client list or want to mail out to certain geographic area like zip codes or postal routes.
Design postcards yourself or use Cloud 8’s Postcard design services. If you are designing postcards yourself call us if you need help in finding quality photos or questions of how to format for superior printing.
Most popular sizes are: 4″ x 6″, 5.5″ x 8.5″ and 6″ x 11″.
Printers Tip:
If mailing 4″ x 6″ go with a 4.25″ x 6″ they are larger nearly the same price. Also, 4.25″ x 6″ is the largest size where you can mail First Class for same price as Standard (Bulk) Mail. First Class mail takes a big jump once you get larger than 4.25″ x 6″.

Every Door Direct Mail Postcards:
6.25″ x 9″, 6.25″ x 11″ and 8.5″ x 11″ are most popular and all have the same postage cost of 17.5 cents.
Artwork:
This part is key! Make sure your photos and logos are high resolution, preferably 300 DPI (Dots per Inch). No low resolution PNG or GIF files. They look great on web, but don’t work in print. And make sure you submit your art with bleed. Bleed means submit your art 1/4″ larger in width and 1/4″ larger in height than you really need with no copy or graphics near the edges. That way when we make our cut you won’t have a photo or copy cut off. For Example if your card is 4″ x 6″ submit artwork as 4.25″ x 6.25″. Submit as a PDF is best, JPG is OK, but it will go faster if PDF. http://www.freepdfconvert.com/
Postcard Stock:
14 point is a very nice premium card stock. 16 Point is nearly the same price and just a little thicker. When choosing Giant 8.5″ x 11″ cards consider 100 # Cover (not to be confused with 100# text) for saving a few bucks. It is a little thinner than 14 point, but not much.
Coatings For Postcards:
UV coating is glossier than AQ. Choose AQ Matte if you want to write on it. Satin, also a Matte is available on 16 point cards only. Spot coating is only when you want just a certain “spot” coated. We print many more UV postcards so choose UV if you are in a hurry, turnaround is faster.
Full Color Postcards or Black and White:
Choose one side color, both sides color or Color on Front, black only on back. Price is almost identical so most people stick with color.
Turnaround:
Remember the clock doesn’t start until you approve your proof. If you choose no proof it will get into the mix sooner, but we highly recommend a proof as a double check. In hurry? Go with Next day it cost more, but you said you are in hurry.
Finishing:
Rounded edges on postcards are cool and can make your mailing stand out, but like most things cool it cost more and takes longer.
Shrink Wrapping:
Perfect for Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) Cloud 8 will rubberband or shrink wrap your order in lots of 100. So it is easier to count out the correct number of postcards for the U.S. Post Office.
Quantity:
Need 500, check out 1,000. There is often little price difference in ordering the next size up in postcard quanity.
Small Quantity:
Need less than 250? Check out the Cloud 8’s Digital Printing http://www.cloud8printing.com/products/postcards-digital. Digital isn’t quite as nice as Offset, but it is faster and is available for smaller orders.
